Alison Schuchs was born in Scotland and now lives in Fulton, Mississippi, near Tupelo. She paints portraits in oil in the style of the old masters. “Since I mostly paint children’s portraits from photos, I also like to paint plein air when I can fit it in. It helps me to see color in nature, even though my computer monitor is pretty good”, says Alison. She can often be seen in the area with her handmade pochade box, painting scenes from Mississippi. As well as beloved pets, Alison has painted Still Life Treasures, as she likes to call them. “Everyone has little trinkets that mean a lot to them. I help my clients arrange them and paint a painting of them. “I love to paint portraits though, especially when the person is wearing clothes that are also a work of art. I encourage my clients to have their portrait taken in a place that means a lot to them and wearing jewelry that is special or holding something that means a lot to them. Every client is unique and it is so exciting planning and coming up with ideas for the next project.” Alison has works abroad as well as in the United States
