Drawing at age 4 is still a vivid memory in my mind. Drawing always brought me joy. I was obsessed with drawing people most of my life. I went to college, just for art. For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to create, draw, paint. Now, I am throwing myself in painting. Intuitive painting is what I enjoy most. After doing a workshop 4 years ago with Robert Burridge in Ocean Springs, MS, I was a different person. I put down the paint brush, and started painting with all kinds of different, freeing things, such as cut up pieces of foam core. The class was titled Big and Loose, and that is where I was headed. I am drawn to “freeing” painting. Trying to tap into my deepest feelings. Visual arts has been the one thing in my life (other than God) that I have always leaned on. It is who God made me. I would rather paint than most anything. It is a bottomless pit of learning, experimenting and doing, doing, doing. The only way to learn to paint is to paint.. So I paint every day. My garage is my studio. My favorite space. Abstract art is everywhere and in everything to me.
