Casey Jones is a mixed media artist who brings the abstract to life through an eclectic presentation of bold fluid tones. Motivated by a curiosity to discover unique arrangements of hue and texture, her work exudes an ethereal mood. Harmonious blends of color in evolving patterns permeate throughout each piece capturing the attention of the observer while adding intrigue and appeal to the surrounding decor.
As a self-taught artist, Casey’s creative process is unconventional in nature and historically experimental. She has spent several years testing the individual properties of resins, inks, acrylics, and pigments when combined with each other as well as with a variety of active additives. The techniques used in her application often involve the use of heat and gravity connected with the traditional tools of palette knives and brushes. Although Casey’s approach differs depending on the surface substrate and chemical mix of components being used, she commonly will layer color and mediums to achieve depth and intensity.
Elements of nature such as water and clouds are a repeating inspiration for the many textures, flowing streams of color, and shapes of interest found in Casey’s artwork. Additionally, the natural wood frames are custom-crafted at home with the help of her husband, Keith, to complement the piece’s unique elements.
Completed work from Casey Jones can be found in homes and businesses throughout the South and in multiple art galleries in South Mississippi. She is a native Mississippian and is a current resident of Hattiesburg.
