About Linda Walden

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised nearby in the town of Violet, Louisiana. My interest in art began in 1995 in Memphis, Tennessee. Currently I reside in Bay St. Louis, MS.

Painting was something I always wanted to do but I never thought I could. So when the opportunity came up to take a class in painting I took it. Walking through that door was a bit scary but once I was there I was hooked.

My motto for artwork is “Done from the Heart”. My painting gives me the freedom to put on canvas what I see in my mind and feel in my heart. I usually don’t plan things in advance; I just let it happen.

My favorite themes to paint feature landscapes, still life and figurative work which remind me of my childhood living on the bayous of Louisiana and the Coast of Mississippi. My surroundings bring me ideas and I put those thoughts on canvas.

I paint mostly in acrylic but do enjoy painting in water color and mixed medium. I also enjoy trying new ideas of applying paint to canvas in unique ways in order to stir people’s curiosity in my artwork. I want to connect the public to my artwork in a way that they feel what I feel in my paintings.

It gives me great joy seeing the eyes of people light up when they see my work. I enjoy using bright colors because I feel bright colors makes people happy.

Although I am primarily self-taught I took a few art classes. Water Color under Melody Weintraub in Memphis, TENN., acrylic painting under Patt Odom @ The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education, Ocean Springs, MS. and a drawing class at Karen Anne’s School of Fine Art, Bay St Louis, MS.
