My work reflects an interest in abstract expressionism. My creative responses to the world around me are about the experience of making. Somewhat like the great Abex painters before me, the outcome is less important to me than the experience. I have a master’s degree in art education and am currently working towards a doctorate at William Carey University. I hope to continue in higher education helping the next generation of educators prepare tomorrow’s artists throughout Mississippi. As exhibit curator for the Sarah Ellen Gillespie Museum of Art, I am able to share over 600 works from 20th century Mississippi artists. I currently work under the Ellsworth Grant as Coordinator for the Carey About Art outreach program. I am also honored to be the curator for Oddfellows Gallery, one of the regions best white-box art galleries. Mississippi’s interest and enthusiasm in creativity and the arts can best be seen on any exhibit opening night or throughout the week during gallery hours.
