She loves to paint images that depict special times in the past that people don’t want to forget. She describes her paintings as, “Memories to Hold On To.” Susan and her mother, Dot Courson, represented Mississippi artists in the reception for the media at the 2008 Presidential Debate media reception at Oxford, MS, where they did demonstrations and displayed their artwork. She has won awards locally, as well as in juried national shows. Her paintings were featured nationally within a story of her mother’s art collection in the May 2014 issue of Plein Air magazine. Her art was accepted into American Impressionist Society’s national juried small works show. She is a member of North Mississippi Plein Air Painters, as well as the Portrait Society of America.
