About T. Lowry Wilson

I am a multi award winning photographer based in New Albany, Mississippi.

I began in photography at the age of 14 after saving enough money to buy my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, which I purchased for $14.95 from a local drug store. While attending Clarke College in Newton, Mississippi, I assisted the yearbook staff photographer with developing black and white film in the college darkroom, and later became the main photographer and editor. This experience led to a full-time photography business, and in 1987 I opened my first studio, Creative Images, in Newton, specializing in portrait and wedding photography.

During my photography career, I have photographed close to 600 weddings and made countless portraits and even though I no longer actively pursue this area of the business, I occasionally still get referrals from prior portrait and wedding clients.

In 1997, I closed the photography studio to pursue other business interests. Today, I continue my work in photography focusing primarily on the southern part of the United States. My website, Old South Images, is a showcase and reflection of my current work and efforts to capture the pure essence of the South in photographic images.

My current project is a book feature abandoned places of worship that will be released in the fall of 2017 entitled “Silent Hallelujah.”
