About Terry Tjader Woodturning

Exposing the internal beauty of a tree, one piece at a time, brings great satisfaction. I feel that since man cannot make a tree, my goal is to preserve trees, with as much skill as I can muster, as objects that evoke a sense of enchantment and wonder at the beauty of wood. I create most of my wood art at the lathe, although I carve and sculpt as well. My effort to create a woodturning – the ‘end result’ – is my statement, pure and organic. From teething on a wooden spoon, to ingesting wood shavings that landed in my nearby coffee cup and inhaling dust that has gotten past my dust mask, to the splinter jabbed under my fingernail, I am inspired by wood and wood has become part of me.
